The Memorial Day

January 27 is the day of remembrance in memory of the Shoah, the extermination of the jew. The choice of date
remembers January 27, 1945 when the Soviet Red Army troops arrived at the Polish town of Auschwitz, revealing her infamous concentration camp, freeing the few survivors. The discovery of Auschwitz and the testimonies of survivors revealed for the first time in the world the horror and madness of the Nazi genocide.

Not to mention a wonderful place here poem by Joyce Lussier writer and partisan ...........

Red Shoes

There are a couple red shoes
number 24 almost new;
inner sole can still be seen on the factory brand
"Schulze Monaco"

There is a pair of red shoes
on top of a pile of children's shoes
Buchenwald
more in there is a pile of blonde curls
of black hair and brown
at Buchenwald.

were needed to make blankets for soldiers
not waste anything and the children they undressed and shaved them
before pushing in the gas chambers.

There is a pair of red shoes, red shoes of
for Sunday
at Buchenwald.
were a child of three and a half years
who knows what color his eyes were burned in ovens

but we can imagine her crying
know how the children weep
even his legs will We can imagine
shoe number 24
for eternity
Because the feet of the dead children do not grow.

There is a pair of red shoes
Buchenwald
nearly new
Because the feet of the dead children
not wear shoes ...
